My BP meds only half worked with my last preg. I was in and out of hosp almost every day for the last 6 1/2 weeks and ended up getting PE and needing a c-sect at 36 +4 even though I was on a high dose of BP meds. What was your experience with taking high...

I think I was on 3 different meds in the end & they were still not quite getting my BP lower BP and it ....
I was hospitalized for 2 1/2 weeks before they decided my DS had to come out .
I also ended up with very high BP.
Anyone else being treated with Procardia? (or a variation of it. I've been given Nifedical, or it's also known as Nifedipine ) Just curious if you've experienced any side effects? If you had to use it during a past pregnancy or even just to help with ...

My BP was not going down after delivery, so BP medication that it finally....
My BP stayed high and it wasn't until the 3rdI had SEVERE preeclampsia and delivered at 33 weeks.
Honestly, it did not work for me.
I was given Procardia.
I posted on general health but no one has had any ideas so wanted further ideas on extra things to do alongside medication... Anyone got any experience on things you can do easily at home to help bring it down? I've only ever experienced high blood pressure...

My dad has had high bp all his life, he cut out processed-eclampsia 3 times has caught up with me but that BP level is dangerously high and since I'm caring your diet is, but 1 food ....
Diet, cut out sugar and processed food.

I"ve had hypertention the last few years , and have ran the gammut trying to find the right med that won"t intefere with my work-outs ,sex,weight and mental outlook . Plus I have Tinnitus (ear-ringing) and some BP meds drive the sound up to insane levels...

When the Doctor took my BP and was expecting some elevation in BP, but the only thing that has increased a bit was my heart rate the Doctor took my BP I was ....

When I lost 20 pounds I was able to lower my dose by half (when you lose weight your bp goes down naturally which makes your meds stronger....
And yes some people can get off meds when they lose weight .
First congrats on the weight lost.
Went to the Doctor, of course he says 'you need to lose more weight'... well duh *slap back of head*. He asked me 'Why is your blood pressure so high Brad?' well.. that's why your the Dr. and I'm the patient... but anyway.... Only thing I can relate it...

On the other hand, if it's high at home, you would be better off going on meds until you can get some more....
High bp can be dangerous the problem.
Maybe consider meds if it's over 120/80 consistently when at home.
I currently take a med for high blood pressure (losartan potassium) and a couple of other things. Is it O.K. to use a salt substitute such as "NO SALT" if I do so in moderation? Otherwise, I am VERY careful about salt in prepared foods that I buy, preferring...

For some classes of BP warn about consuming extra potassium.
