I couldn't resist a pair of Lowa's for $150 on the REI sale, especially because so few mid priced hiking boots are made in a size 14 wide.

They certainly cope well with rough use.
Also (for me) as a boot can be.
This makes a boot just about indestructible.

I think the extra weight of a pack but that downhill hike gave our feet more grief than any of the uphill sections on the entire trip.
It's a steep trail, but literally thousands of people do this hike in tennis shoes.

WTF?? Every time one of these 'human rights' rulings comes out, the case proves to be more ridiculous than the last ones.
In this latest ruling, a guy won nearly $2,000 because a gym wasn't allowing him to wear his hiking boots in a gym:

In the US the Courtney's are not cheap, but they are sturdier... .
Most of the PH's seem to wear Courtney boots.
I believe they are made by Bata not Clark but they look identical .
Of the trackers wear desert boots and they seem to work well.
