Looking for an "affordable" place to stay in Downtown/Historic district. Planning on staying beginning of July for 2 nights and only 1 full day to spend in Charleston. I have already read previous posts of "things to do" and found great ideas, however...

It is very difficult if not impossible to find a nice inexpensive hotel in the Charelston historic clean hotel with large rooms that is located on the Savanah Highway just a short drive from downtown.

Definitely bring your walking....
The only time we used our car was to go outside of the city and was worth it .
I thought at the Holiday Inn Historic District.

I'll be flying into Heathrow with my wife on a Monday afternoon. I suspect we'll be jet lagged, and anxious to get to our London hotel and relax a bit (and soak up London). One of the few days after our arrival, I'd like to rent a car and take a day trip...

Most Brits will be a little puzzled if you start using phrases like "Downtown" - that phrase or, if we're referring to the financial district (also the historic core of London) we refer to "the City.

I eventially settled for a regular hotel (Marriott) due to the fact that several B&B places generally are privately owned and bathrooms are shared... .
Originally, I was also looking for B&B and some of them are really nice .

Why go to a cookie-cutter hotel.
It is historic and fabulous.
HH Brown Palace.
The Palm room is high enough.
Westin is very good and right on the mall.
Brown Palace is the most famous and historic.
