I use ClearCase VCS....
You definitely want to begin doing such selective picking in the long run when the amount of commits go up .
Note that it takes a git rev-list constraint so you can limit what you see .
The gitk(1) tool for git is what I use at work .

I love art history, it is a great resource to fashion and the ideas of people in the past.
