Dental Exams/ Teeth Floating When do you know to have their teeth floated or examined? I have a older mare and we think her teeth might be starting to go or shes just starting to enjoy her food more and eat slower :)

My old girl Red threw me for a loop this past fall .
Especially the older horses.
Has she ever had her teeth floated? If not I'd say to have her checked.

I know that most vets will traditionally use a file to float your horses teeth, but isnt there a machine that can electrically file your horses teeth? Have you guys used it before? Whats it called? Which works better? Risks to using the machine file? ...

Teeth grinding can be a symptom of horses with gastric ulcers to be floated....
If she is still doing after her teeth are floated then its probably stress the problem, have her scoped for ulcers.
It might be her teeth.

How often do you worm your horses? (and a few other questions)? first off, I've heard people calling it "wormer" and "dewormer" so im guessing its one of those things that dont matter..

They dont of beet pulp and alfalfa cubes to some of my "senior & in need of weight" pastured horses.
My two senior horses have done better on a pelleted feed with 10% fat and the rice bran.
