How do you know if your horse's mouth or teeth are sore or have problems?

Regular horses need their teeth done about once floated yearly is pretty common, though some horses will need it done more or less frequently their food.
The problem will likely disappear afterwards.

I need some serious tooth help for my gelding!
Here is a picture of my 9 yr. old gelding's bottom teeth. I have no idea what has happened here. I don't know any good teeth professionals. The local vets, that I know of, are ok with floating...

Honestly what I can see ....
And often it doesn't heal right and they end up removing at least one of the teeth..
In that position, unless you want to do major surgery, the only thing you can do is to keep them floated a visual preference..

This horse is not mine, and is under vet care. I just feel bad for the teen owner & thought I'd throw this out for help/suggestions from the COTH community.
Horse is an 8 year old OTTB gelding, has been off track for 4 years. Owner purchased him in December...

Everyone I knew for what the horse has to say on the matter.
Trails are just more 'forward' for horses in general, much more to think about.

If you look at photos of the SA wild horses, you see old Hans.
The horse in question is a 20 year old old style farm horse.
I currently own 13 horses, so forgive me if it gets a bit confusing.

horse dentist = 100 bucks per visit.
Have a vet fund set up in case of emergencies .
