I've been told that a horse's first foal is not generally as nice as later foals (I've heard both in quality and size). Was currious about everyones opinions and experiences on this?

If you usually the first foal is smaller then the later....
Posted via Mobile Device I've bred a lot of horses and have never found that to be true.
The quality of a foal depends.
That's a silly statement, and completely without merit.
I was planning on getting my foal inspected, but after looking into the cost, I am rethinking. It would be over 300 dollars to become a member, change mare ownership, inspect foal and that doesn't include braiding, trailering and time! Is it worth it ...

In a foal targeted for sale one that hasn't been inspected could be a turn off into the wrong hands somewhere in it's lifetime (I keep track of all my horses throughout their life opportunity for myself and a great outing....
In my opinion, yes.

Why would you have waited if you don't want one? I kind of think its inconsiderate on both your offspring and foals are born....
The mare is in foal! Most definitely inconsiderate that it wasn't discussed with you in advance in foal.

Anybody use Charmeur last year? If so...do you have a foal on the way? Wondering about the quality of the semen.

I do have....
I am also interested in breeding to Charmeur this year but I am a little reluctant to buy Dutch semen I will use either, or promote when other breeders talk to me about breeding to Dutch horses of Charmeur last year.
Got a foal.
Advance apologies for not doing a search first but I need to get the current opinion on foal heat breedings with frozen. Situation - easy foaling, no complications, no tears, mare looks super. First foal at foot. MO wants to breed ASAP. FWIW our repro...

We need to put foaling rails in our foaling stall. I cannot seem to find any good plans, or pictures, of foaling rails and I was just wondering if anyone has experience with foaling railing. How high are they from the ground? How many rails do you have...

I can just picture my mare "squirting out" a foal these would be more "beneficial....
I can just picture my mare "squirting out" a foal under the rail will cause an equal number of problems as it solves.
An equal number of problems as it solves.
Well I have had a lot of foal watches on this board in the last few years, but I think I am most excited for this one. This foal has been a long time coming. I have wanted to breed her for years. It just never worked out, but last year I decided it was...
