I was recently given a prescription for Effexor by my Oncologist for hot flashes and wondered how many take this drug and if it helped...

I didn't know it helped hot flashes.
I now to treat depression.
I took effexor for hot flashes for 2 days, had an allergic reaction to it and had to stop.

I’m 55 and had hysterectomy a month ago. Few days ago I have started having hot flashes, like in menopause . Are they due to hysterectomy or what? How long will I have to suffer them? Please post.

To date, I still have obnoxious hot flashes.
Hot flashes usually.
They occur when ovaries are removed.
Hot flashes are due to lack of oestrogen.

Its been five years since last period, so im officially in menopause. still get hot flashes. they've gotten somewhat less, but still get them. how long can this last? someone told me her mother in late 80s still got an occasional hot flash. i was stunned...

I was prepared for bleeding and baby blues after birth but I was NOT aware of the hot flashes. They were awful. I soaked my clothes every night for the first couple of weeks.
Gave me a whole new appreciation for women going through menopause!

Since increasing my training, I am experiencing more hot flashes and night sweats. This could be the onset of perimenopause, but I thought it was odd that it seems to happen more after a day of activity.

I had the kind of hot flashes where you drip.
Just being able to sleep is great.
Sometimes I experience a mild hot flashes at that time, too.
And can't always get back to sleep.

I haven't posted much but have read this forum for a while and love reading the different posts and knowing I am not alone. I don't have hot flashes often but when I get them, I get sweating from the chest up, and then really weak like I may pass out ...

I have had very mild hot flashes since the beginning of peri when I was 43. Well I just turned 55 and they have started to get really bad. I have several a day now and night sweats as well. Sometimes I think I am going to spontaneously burst into flames...

Do any of you all get nausea with your hot flashes and how do you deal with it? Is there any thing I can take for the nausea, like supplements or over the counter meds? I take Flash-Ease which contains soy isoflavones and phytoestrogens and that helps...

Could it be My hot flashes have been CRAZY for at least the last 6-10 months or so. Drenching night sweats, peeling off clothes, etc. I'll be at the one-year mark in June. We left on vacation a week ago...and just before that I noticed the flashes were...
