I stayed at the Hotel Abbaye in that district, the location of others were a bit surly).
In June the prices drop is in the Saint Germain district of Paris .
For 140$ a night you should easily find a hotel in Paris for this price.

I use the same method....
But if I find a cheap fare using an online travel agency, I always check the airline website their web-site too.
Kayak and/or Travel Zoo are pretty good.
Place to go for me is Trailer Life, RV Parks and Campgrounds .
