Hi girls/guys. I have recently been contracted for some work tying in Flex with a Rails backend. I was wondering how much you would charge for per hour for this sort of work? Thanks.

Many programmers might be hesitant to post to start contracting on your own, given the fact that you aren't sure what to charge? I mean, charge that.
Somewhere between $35-$75 USD / hour is prolly close.

What do you consider a fair, yet profitable hourly wage for routine updates/management (ie - information, maintenance, database management) for your average site?
What factors do you use to set that rate?
As a reference...I usually quote around $25/hour...

When in doubt about how much to charge...
If it is a one time thing, charge a little bit more than what you normally would.
Of information then charge what you normally would.

At our company we charge by the hour, which is actually broken down into 6 min chunks. At the end of the day you end up recording 8 HRS, 8.1 HRS (i.e., 8 HRS 6 min), etc. to a task, where the task is allocated a certain number of HRS.

Charge at least $75 an hour for family and friends when you have a certain skill. Regular customers should be about $180 per hour
