I'm curious about the new innovations in Intel's Core i5 and i7 series of chips, in particular the Turbo Boost Technology. (Doesn't turbo boost remind you of Knight Rider ?)
What are the details on how it works? Is it a marketing gimmick or are there ...

Basically, if the current application workload isn't keeping all four cores fully busy and pushing right up against the chip's TDP (Thermal Design... .
Turbo Boost can increase the clock speed of each core individually to get more performance out of the chip .

3820's can do 4.5GHz just as easy ....
In a lot of ways, it has more, all day .
It's hardly a "locked" SKU, its very overclockable.
LGA2011 will also support Ivy Bridge E cpus Apparently the i7 3770k gets very hot when you start series can.

Pretty good price on the i7 3930k considering it's $589.99 at NCIX, better deal than the 2700k CPU currently $500, 2nd gen i7 will be cheap in a couple of weeks (due to 3rd Gen/IVY bridge)...

Core i7's are also quad core.
But not necessarily the fastest Xeon available) and Core i7 975, the current flagship of the Core i7 seriesOverclocking to 4 GHz is not the same as twice the power of 2GHz.

I7 Ivy v I7 Sandy On Games Will the I7 Ivy Bridge be better than the i7 Sandy at CPU intense games ? I.e Total War ? Anything that gives more fps is worth getting : plus the price difference is hilariously small. Click the star left of my sig if you found...

Apart from that just more ram support.
The first week? Ivybridge offers PCIE3 support, if you are getting a ATI 7000 series card of nvidia 600 series card you would get full use of faster pcie transfer.
