Currently running an i7 920 at stock rates, no interest in over clocking.
I know the first two options will require a new board and checking the Gigabyte site the i7 990X is compatible with my current board.
Main use is HD encoding, decoding and acting...

Updated likely not so hot as MS has confirmed via chat that this Samsung is most likely an i5, NOT an i7 as previously advertised.

Here's my setup
Intel i7 940 - stock speed 12GB DDR3 RAM ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series 2x 10k RPM Velociraptor Hard drives At no load, room temperature my cpu cores consistently read: 43 43 46 43 (Celsius)
The 3rd core is always a little hotter... don't know...

Ideally, at no load, the i7 core should be reading i7 920 (Source: Tom's Hardware )

Which 5000 series card have you got? there's little performance difference between the 6950 and 5870
Even the 5850 is no slouch being just behind the 6870 or gtx560 non-ti
The i7 means nothing 5870 1GB here and every possible settings is....
