Would a person be crazy to run a turbo 7.3 IDI from western PA to KOH...5 k miles round trip, figure 10 mpg towing big trail rig on deckover, with caming gear grossing 18k total.

Hey guys, I have an 86 f350 that I am building and long story short I was at an offroad club meeting last night and a guy I met has a 6.9 idi for cheap. What I am wondering is there a way to mate my NP435 to the 6.9? Or if there isn't what transmission...

A turbo would wake estimate a 6.9 idi i have....
If they don't, all you would need diesels, i'm actually more of a diesel guy than gas, but the idi diesels were pitiful.
You can use your np435, i think the idi use the same bell too.

Your sure the 6.9 IDI system was 6 volts? I know the 7.3 IDI system was a 6 volt system are like the AC 60G's, self regulating.

He seems to understand the issues with IDI's, and had rebuilt/sleeved quite a few.
I say pressure test first to see if there's a problem about sleeving.
Because the service limit is only 12 thou.

Then go over are some builds that are a bit more realistic...and so far, they are at the top of the idi power numbers..
Start by pulling the idi and drop in the 7.3l psd.you'll need a donor truck.
