Occasionally when I click a link in my Favorites Bar IE8 will open a file download prompt for the shortcut itself (.url file).
Very annoying.
Has anyone else experienced this? I swear I encounter this at least once a day.

Seems kinda stupid to click "New Tab" first only to click a favorites bar link.
A "solution" to this is to just Ctrl+click the favorites bar links to open them in a new tab.

Does anyone know if there's a way to customise favourites in IE8 so that
when you add favourites I only see the top folders in the hierarchy?
I have twelve top-level folders but hundreds of sub-folders and favourites

Please can someone assist with this matter regarding Internet Explorer 8: my Favorites should (always) open in the tab I'm in. However sometimes they open to a new Window which makes no sense to me. I haven't been able to discover a pattern when and why...

To make matters worse, you never know where it's going... .
IE has some quirks I don't like, Favorites is one of them and lack I do that, favorites open in a new tab or in the tab I'm on (still randomly).
It's a quicker browser than IE8.

I tried some "add to favorties" JavaScript scripts.. With IE8, I get an "access denied" (is that even possible to add a bookmark via JS with IE8?) and it just doesn't work with IE6... Anybody has a good script that works on most browsers?

Both IE6 and IE8 will need the users to press CTRL+D to add the website to the favourites.

any IE, click on File, Import....
And click on File, Import and Export, select Export

In Firefox, if I have multiple windows open with several tabs each, all will be reopened when I restart FF.
In IE8. If I restart and click "Reopen last browsing session", IE reopens tabs from only one of the windows. Is there a way to make it reopen tabs...

However, IE8 lets me reopen last browser session.
Try the following:
Open two windows of IE8 (one should already time I open FF.
And mine restores both windows and tabs.
