If you go ice always mean it would be easy....
The amount of time to get used to skating also depends on the person and their skills and experience.
And practice, you would get the hang of it and ice skating would become easier.

Fancy ice skating one night next week anyone? Perhaps Tuesday or Thursday or Thursday nights for skating, they're nice quiet sessions.

We went to a hockey game last week and he won 2 free passes.
This is what went through my head:
YAY! But, Oh no! I suck at ice skating. I am going to be on my butt more than I will be skating. Eh, what the heck, I will just treat it as another adventure...

I love ice skating with my husband and friends, even though I'm not the best at it :-) Since I'm no pro, there is the chance that I may fall, at least on my knees. Does this mean I need to forfeit that joy this winter?

I would say don't do it just to....
I'd say, go, go slow, and if you notice that you're falling quite .
If you aren't good at ice skating and plan on falling - common sense should tell you to skip than they are with ice skating.

You can still skate in it The skirts are slightly different but for the most at an entry level to competitions you would be fine....
But I've never heard it made an issue of before .
And often pointed, and ice skirts are more flowy and longer.
