Sorry for a new thread on whats probably a well documented problem but bit desperate...
As per usual the golf has gone wrong at the worst possible time, on holiday in cornwall.
The oil light has come on flashing away, and then the buzzer at over 2k revs...

So i disconnected the battery on my 2000 legacy gt the other day for some other random work. I guess that wiped the ecu memory and every since i started it back up it likes to rev to 2k rpm in park and neutral. If i shift into gear it goes down to about...

What type of repairs did you do? I was going to say it a normal cold start and it should go to normal rpms when its at normal temp but then when you said the reverse thing kinda threw me off unless it stays at those rmps when it is warmed up unless you... .

A bit of background real quick. I have a 96 SOHC MTX, has had a broken EGR for awhile (long story), and for a few weeks the radiator fan has been out. I have a new rad and fan, just need time to drop it in--haven't overheated yet thankfully...

Type S Idling issues
Hey guys,
Alright so I am having trouble troubleshooting my brothers car. I have checked the IAC valve and cleaned it out using the form DIY.

I just replace....
Remember, I covered the hole in the TB with my fingers to idle at around 2k rpm and when i put in neutral while the car is moving the rpm would shoot back up to 2k rpm.
The TPS sensor is causing the idling issues.

This just recently started happening. When i usually start it, it goes up to about 3k RPM's, then about 2k, then 1k, and it will do this for about a minute, unless i put it in drive then it goes down to 600 RPM's (where my car usually idles). sometimes...

I disconnected! I have the 4 cylinder.
Is this normal? I also have a check engine light on as well .
Not super bad but it's at about 550-600 rpm idling.
Thanks I have a 2000 gt and its idling rough as well.

Help please, 91 corrado g60, sometimes the idle will sit at 1000revs sometimes it will go to 850-900 revs doesnt bother me but would like to have it right have done plugs leads rotor arm & dizzie cap at service 2k ago, any ideas fergal

My temp gauge wasn't working so I put in an autometer gauge. I took the intake off to get to the sensor I've put everything back. When I start the car up it idles at 2500.what could it be?

Back together that supplies the heater controls, didnt hear the leak, but it idled around 2k.

I've been through the 101 FAQ, I've done the tps adjustment - car fires, rpm's jump to around 2k, slowly drops the rpm, hits 750, then drops suddenly until it stalls.

92 AWD, evo III big 16g, 90 engine, 91 ECU with pins 6/14 swapped, 2G MAF, rewired...
