I've only recently heard about JSON (Javascript Object Notation). Can anybody explain why it is considered (by some websites/blogs/etc) to be important? We already have XML, why is JSON better (apart from being 'native to Javascript')?

Now that the 3 series is growing and has the 2.0 engine with 8 speed transmission (and a bunch of other goodies) - just curious if anyone has put their 5 series purchase on hold and waiting to test drive the 3 series - and seriously considering it.
