Between my dad and I we have owned every model year Duramax except 2011 and they have all been stock. Currently my dads 2010 economy is sucks compared to my 2006 LBZ. So my question is what are the best aftermarket modifications to improve his mpg?
Thanks...

I went from 11mpg to 16 at 70mph on the freeway... .
I went with a 4"MBRP turbo back exhaust and the Edge Evo Race tuner .
To get better mileage out of a LMM you will need it in MPG and power.
First off, welcome to DF.
2-3 mpg's with just that.

I've been doing a lot of reading and I've watched the GreenPowerVideo on maximizing MPG.
But I still have a few questions.
I bought my 2010 Prius used with 43K. One of the chart screens shows a "BEST" mileage of 44.5. I've gotten my cons. meter to show...

As it says. Not going for max power. Just going for more mpg.
Anyone see a good jump in mpg with a cam?

I was getting 37 mpg in my '98 R/T 37 mpg also.
Mopar combustion is the 2.4 exhaust cam & 420a exhaust(used as intake cam in Neon) .
All that will probably do more for MPG than a cam.
Be sure the engine is tuned up.

I'm currently getting about 35mpg (according to the computer which seems to be about 4mpg optomistic) on my 1.8, some town, some a-road driving.
Is it always better to be in the highest gear possible for good MPG? Doing 30mph I'm usually in 5th gear (...

It probably makes....
Giving it a good blast to hit my mpg.
Town driving kills the mpg on the 1.8.
When accelerating i do tend to go down a gear for not straining the engine .
The revs between 2000 - 2500 seems to result in the best mpg.

Maybe, if you were driving from the East Coast to the West Coast nonstop at interstate speeds, ... .
Lololol it can me measured in noticeable higher mpg.
At home, you are carrying that much less weight when you drive, thus improving mileage.

I read some of a previous MPG thread but it was a little dated so by 2 or 3 points, improving the fuel's performance.

I usually use General Altimax HP 195/65-15 for regular road tires. Recently I bought some Blizzak WS50 195/55/15 on steel rims for the winter. They work great but they rev higher rpm's and I am thinking it is contributing to lower mpg. I was wondering...

The 55s such as two 50 mile runs, etc.
Speedo accuracy will be off a little as well.
More than 1 mpg (which was very close to 3%).
