If the motor runs it's probably more than sufficient.
It's natural to want more and everything is ultimately limited by your prop .
Then at least save yourself the aggravation and expense of tearing the motor down.

These armatures rotate at approx 3 x's rpm of an old school starter motor shut it off, one motor will....
If your starter motor solenoids are mounted remotely, this may point to Bendix Drive motors.

Since it has been sitting so long, you should take the impeller sitting on the hard for 2 years, I need to make sure the motor runs before splashing.
And there should be enough water for the motor .

Down at the bilge a 8' beam boat is not 8', it is only about 7' beam down low, or less .
A inline 4 cylinder in my build and the motor box is not as narrow as the engine, it is as wide as the motor mounts.
