In the past, I've simply selected one bond index fund for the fixed income portion on my portfolio. I might continue to do the same, but want to learn more about different options. My portfolio is at 24% bonds and I'm 15-30 years away from retirement....

I can't get North Carolina Fixed Income Fund to chartFor FIBIX....
The NC fixed income is actually a Stable Value fund which has, if not the world's biggest mutual fund, period).
Both of these are fine funds.

This fund is approx 70% stocks 30% bonds.
This is a good fund to hold in a 401k because of the incomeStay with thee 2 funds you are in.
Because it pays a nice dividend each quarter.

I held some money in Pacific Stock Index fund. and now filing tax:
according to the documents from Vanguard:
on 1099-div,
Box 1a: $125.03 so this is total dividends.
Box 6: $4.56 this is foreign tax paid.

Once you get above those limits, what you put in for foreign income would come into play.
All of it as credit so it should be independent of what you put for foreign income in that range.

Just send the sheet outlining the US Government source along with the Fund's 1099 and let him/her handle....
Your accountant needs to know as in some states the income may be partially tax exempt if coming in the Total Bond Index Fund.
