This is pure "hand waving", but what if the galaxies in our universe are but atoms in a larger scale parallel universe? What if each galaxy in our universe was a gas atom in a cloud of gas on a larger scale, which would explain why the universe is expanding...

I'd assume number one" are silicon ....
In "silicon covalent crystal" the balls are individual atoms and the sticks/shafts are the (covalent) bonds shared by the individual atoms.
But of the four pictures, #1 is the closest.

Awful, I just did not know that fluorescent lamps have alot of
mercury inside. Another source for Autism, especially in the
early days when hospitals used fluorescent lamps and
routinely broken. I wonder if a instrument exists that can
be lugged around...
