Just a FYI
If ya go for a safety and it fails, you have 10 days to do the repairs (wherever ya want, even yourself) and then bring it back for re-inspection for free, except for a couple of things, after you paid for the initial inspection of course.

What they are suppose to do is just check to see if the issues found during the initial inspection have been....
The wheels to come off to inspect the brakes...you will always get charged again if they do another full safety inspection.

Note the inspection station near me only takes appointments so your in and out in less than 15-20 the monitors are completed before going back to the inspection station to avoid a potential unpleasant, and the like.

So from my reading about what inspection stations look for in TX, I realise that much thought wasn't put into the laws
If you swap in a different engine from a different car it must come from the same class and be the same or newer model year complete...

My car was rejected for state inspection due to a missing battery hold down. At first I thought ok, I'll give, but then I tried to prove they had the right to reject me for that. I could not find a battery hold down check as part of the VA State Inspection...
