I've installed Kubuntu in a laptop but I like to use Ubuntu instead. Is there some way to install Ubuntu without having to reinstall the whole thing from scratch?
I've been trying to find documentation about this on the net but nobody seems to have tried...

Cleansing your computer of Kubuntu isn't an easy task....
It will also leave Kubuntu installed.
That will bring in GNOME and the rest of the Ubuntu desktop for you .
The virtual package "ubuntu-desktop" is all you need to install.

Is there a way to switch from Kubuntu to Ubuntu?
I tried to search with add /remove and on net but always get Ubuntu to Kubuntu not otherway around.

Just a warning: If your Vista is an OEM version, it may not install in a VM.

I had initialy, I decided to install the video....
It appears that the Kubuntu/Mint Live discs are having issues determining the appropriate settings is another distribution as your computers hardware may be too new for Kubuntu 11.10.

You install Grub 2 to the MBR by installing to the drive (sda, sdb, sdc, etc) and telling-install --root-directory=/mnt /dev/sda
An even easier way to install it if you have problems sudo grub-install....
To boot Ubuntu.
