Hi,
I have a debian server and want to use the nice screen extension "screen-profiles". I think this comes from Ubuntu.
Is there a way to get it on debian and how?

You can download the package....
If it complains about dependencies, try to install these from a Debian repo, just to be safe.
install it as
dpkg -i screen-profiles.deb

You could also just use the Debian package :-)

I am trying to install Ubuntu Netbook on an iiView A2. I realize this is not necessarily supported according to the Ubuntu documentation, however, one of my friends who has the same netbook was able to accomplish this with no issues.

Before clicking on install goto F4 and choose safe graphics mode then continue to install it worked for me :) Good luck.
Try a text-mode install.

I have a problem with my eclipse. Whenever I go to the Install Software screen and put in a an update site, the screen shows nothing but when I click on the screen where I can select plugins they're there and I can actually go on to install the plugins...

Makes sure you install version.
You can download a new installation from eclipse.org and install recent updates from the Software Sources dialog or something).
With a clean Eclipse install.

Hi there
I just installed XP sp3 on my desktop machine. The installing process worked, but now when i try to start the system, after the windows loads it restarts itself.
How can I detect the reason of this self restart?

(WARNING: Memory tests takes awhile, you might want to just switch RAM around... .
Download a toolkit CD such as Hiren's BootCD, burn it to a CD, boot off the CD, and run any of the memory diagnostic tools in there, such as MemTest+ .
It could be faulty RAM.

Blue screen of death . now cant install windows 7 yesterday i started my pc and to my surprise while booting windows showed me the blue screen error and then restarted again to take to startup repair screen which showed the error boot configuration corrupt...

It seems that in a few of several windows 7 installs i've seen so far, it will use the vista startup screen as opposed to the new windows 7 one. Nothing else is wrong, it just uses the old one. Why does this happen?

I get the fancy boot animation on my desktop which have a 1680x1050 screen, while my laptop which has 1024x600 gets a boring one..
Something to do with the screen size or something.
