You should be able to install the instruction as given
# rpm -ivh rpmforge-release-0.5.2-2.el5.rf.i386.rpm
# yum install vlc -y
such error occurs
# yum install....
As far as I know, VLC is available in the repositories (RPMforge).

I'm not familiar with VLC motion sensor combined with the fact that VLC has a very small playback buffer out of the box with the Linux port of VLC here....
There is a delay that can be long enough to leave a gap in the music playback .
