I have to make a recommendation to management regarding whether or not we should spend the extra money to purchase new computers with Intel i7 CPUs (i7 950s) or whether we should buy Intel Core 2 Quad processors (Q9550s or something equivalent.) Our main...

I've had both and have seen....
We tested i7 systems where I work, and had major stability be getting smaller as time goes by as well), the core i7 will own the Core 2 Quad.
Then a 3,2GHz quad core - both cost the same.
I wonder if in my program I have only 1 thread, can I write it so that the Quad core or i7 can actually make use of the different cores? Usually when i write programs on a Quad core computer, the CPU usage will only go to about 25%, and the work seems...

Pretty sure there is....
You really have to just look up benchmark scores on the individual processors to compare them the processor .
Although most situations dictate i7's.
The biggest difference is between a dual and a quad core.
In speed.

Turbo Boost can increase the clock speed of each core individually to get more performance out the clock speed of each core individually to get more performance out of the chip.
Intel's most CPU from the upcoming Ivy Bridge collection is going to be known as Core i7 3770K and has been benchmarked apparently. The benchmarking results that have made their way to the Internet... More...

Is the Intel Core i7 chip a quad core processor with hyper-threading as well or is it a single core processor thats hyper-threaded so that it works like a multi-core chip?

With hyper-threading enabled it has four physical cores and four virtual cores....
It is a quad core with hyper-threading.
No, its a quad The Intel Core i7 is a quad core CPU with Hyper-threading technology.
Is the Quad-core Intel Core i7 Processor worth paying extra for? I am buying my 15' MacBook Pro and it gives me an expensive option to add a Quad-core Intel Core i7 Processor. Is it worth buying? What does it do?

I still think.
Only 13" has the i5 or i7 choice.
Current MacBook Pro 15"s only have i7 quad core CPUs.
2.2Ghz Quad-Core vs 2.8GHz Dual-Core Intel i7? Yeah, well I don't know which one to get. They are about the same price, the Dual core has more GHz but is only dual core. Which one should I get? Thanks.

If you're gonna ....
In short: 2.8ghz i7 is much better than 2.2ghz quad core The quad core will give you much.
As my processor is a dual core 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 HT, but it cannot be as fast as an I7 even though monster.
