They are more of a product of evolution than intelligent design.
Enter HTML/CSS/JS.
Designers create mock-ups and specifications of the UI design on.
Where I work it's basically the same.

It's a choice! Creationist or evolution it's up to you, I couldn't give a flying fuck which you choose. We are so insignicant in the sceme of things that is really does not matter, if either makes you happy then go with it.
