Can Anyone Recommend a Watch to Buy In Kuwait and Iraq?
The dial is marked "Swiss Made", but the rotor is marked "Japan Quartz". It's obviously a self-winding mechanical watch with no battery! source
Why did the West care when Saddam annexed Kuwait?
It would have substantially increased the income going into Iraq which would have allowed him to increase the size and capabilities of his military as well as having a larger say in OPEC thus having more control over oil prices. This in turn could have allowed him to continue his expansion into other oil producing states, possibly even Saudi Arabia. One nation gaining a near monopoly on Mideast oil supplies was seen as a direct threat to the welfare of the US. Kuwaitis did an excellent job of highlighting the abuse and murder committed by Saddam's forces when they took control of Kuwait. While some of these stories later turned out to not be true, there was more then enough brutality to gain the support of the US population for intervention. source
Anyone hear about this from Kuwait?
This is a forum, therefore debates take place through writing. Hence, the ideas being shared are conveyed through ones writings. If one does not show enough concideration to properly write their ideas then it is certainly reasonable for others not to show any concideration for said ideas. source
Any Mid-A-rs been to Kuwait?
It's been a long time since I was over there but I know it's pretty safe now, nothing like Iraq. I'd say go for the money and experience--you may gain some insight into the holy war. source
Do you know anyone in Iraq?
I have a guy on MSN, who claims he's the son of Saddam Hussein. Of course I don't believe him, but still it's strange... source
