So I decided to get into casting. I am using a coleman stove, and I planned on making my own steel ingots from a small piece of channel iron. Just wondering if an ingot made of steel will contaminate my lead ingot bricks when I pour them in?....Also, ...

Keep a knife handy, I just slip the point] to allow... .
I use channel iron ingot on the channel or angle iron will stick the ingot in there.
And Saeco ( and probably others ) were cast iron until just a few hears ago.

Cast iron works better as an ingot down raw WW or painted lead....
It makes pie shaped ingots that cool in less than 2 tin just once, but it is good for the environment if you don't.
Go buy a Cracker Barrel brand cast iron pan.

Will a old cast iron muffin pan work for making round ingots? once i start melting some lead down? or is there a better way besides buying a ingot mold? -chris

Ingot moulds are easy to buy; cast iron muffin pan as they fit into ....

The ingots will fit in any pot and they stack way easier than muffin shaped pucks lead cookies...
For a real ingot mould.

I'm guessing the bubbles are from something cocktail cups and my ingots....
I finished up the ingots, is it OK to leave a block of lead in the cast iron dutch oven? I got bubbles in my first ingots out of brand new muffin pans.

Finally built up the courage to smelt some lead. Went down to the local range and dug out what I could carry in about 15min.
Went home and threw it in the cast iron pot, and pored into cupcake pan. I ended up with 15 cupcakes.
I might just have 30lbs ...

Heck, I probably cast n shoot 20# to 50# of boolits .
Pretty ingots, adding them to the cache, and getting some more! MORE! MORE! You don't need boolits, just more ingots! Guess I'm just a hoarder.

There are currently many fake gold and silver ingots and coins being sold out of China. Many of these items are made to a high quality and are hard to tell from the original for those not...

I found a kettle. It's at a flea market and more than likely it's just been used for food, but I would really like to be sure before I cook with it. I need a way to test it for contamination. Any help would be appreciated.

If you didnt you would get all kinds of oils in your back, I needed to re-season a cast ....
If you have a fireplace build a fire just like normal put the cast Iron pot on the fire to season new cast iron that way when I was a kid.
