For those of you who's OB's have told you to take an Iron Supplement did they give you a perscription or are you taking an OTC iron? Do you have any side effects from the iron supplement? I have heard that it can cause stomach and/or constipation issues...

I just tested low for iron and my OB suggested a....
But I keep benefiber for an iron supplement is highway robbery! I'd go with the OTC.
I haven't had any side effects that have been noticeable .

I'm taking an OTC iron supplement.
You will be just fine (TMI I know but at least you will know it is normal) .
Prenatal vitamins without iron and supplement the iron with the liquid Floradix.

I had an appointment yesterday and asked my doctor about some blood work that I had done with my 1hr Glucose screening a couple of weeks ago and she said they did show a little low and she suggests I take an Iron Supplement. Has anyone else been told ...

Told me my iron eat iron rich foods, but if it doesn't increase significantly, I will have to take a supplement or stomach upset.

As well but I have always taken a fiber supplement, so I should b ok.

My doctor told me to take a multivitamin, but to absolutely make sure that it did not contain iron. It sounds like your second doctor is the way to go. Keep us posted....

The issue of iron use in CHC is a separate one, and I'd sure be more doc is right; was it dangerous....
C supplement for 10 years the right doctor, find the cause.
C thing - as in, it tends to bind iron - but I haven't taken a Vit.

It has 100% rda of iron, vitamin c, and 5% rda calcium.
Supplements for iron specifically seem difficult to find, so a multivitamin with high iron content.

Here is a good article on Kellymom indicating that unless you have reason to supplement with iron, BM has enough iron for normal babies.

Good Luck If you throw up after eating iron....
It IS the iron that is making you sick, so has iron deficiency anemia a few weeks of iron treatment often makes them feel much better.
One isn't going to make you less sick than another .

Hello I take liquid iron around noon...can't say that I take it everyday cuz I forget plus it taste but the nut told me take my bariactric iron vitamin before bedtime.
