I've been thinking quite passively about doing a V8 swap for quite some time now and have always had the question that since Rangers never came with a V8 option, how would one pass smog in the great state of CA? Would the truck have to pass the emissions...

I did the 8.8 swap.
Considering my Jeep is a 4 cylinder I'm computer signal will not talk to the stock Jeep tach.
That's why there are issues driving V8 tachs from what I've read.

OK so I am still waiting for warmer....
I have a cj5 and cj7 both to run inside the frame rails, I like the room to get to the other things under a Jeep from time to time.

Easy enough, no problems the rest of the way, the gm coolant temp sensor worked fine with the jeep took the jeep oil sensor got an 1/8 to 1/4 npt adapter and put it in an unused spot in the block, works.

Anyone have any idea on what parts would need to be replaced in order for me to functionally, drop a 5 speed tranny out of a dodge truck into a jeep zj with the 318? Would i have to swap out axles/gearing as well? tranfer case? would like to know more...

Tinkering with the idea of installing a 351W or 5.0 in my 95 YJ. Never done an engine swap before, so this would be a first, and a good learning experience. I toying with the idea of these 2 engines matted to a np435 and twin sticked 205. axles are fine...

A better swap for the money would be either a Chevy LS or a 5.9 out a 4bt in a small jeep is probably not the best way to go for reasons listed, weight, number of mods, size, vibration, emissions, the list....
Is probably the smart money here.
