What exactly does Jihad mean? (I think I know, but can you confirm)? I think it means doing good deeds, like giving to charity, helping people, giving good advice etcetera to get to Jannah? Is this correct?

It doesn't mean being a terrorist, it means like when and do not commit adultery.

I have never heard of anybody in my area, or any area for that matter, leave their kids, wives, car, wealth,etc to help out the Muslims that need help in syria, palestine, etc?
