The Jet is a very nice jointer, and I might stretch to $325ish, but at some price point a new jointer should enter the equation.
Some may disagree, but no, I don't think it' much of a deal .

Just found 2 on CL and I haven't seen them but I offered the guy 200 for both. He countered with 225. Is this a good price for them assuming they are in good shape?

I would think a 3 hp would be good enough at full speed and 4-5 hp you would need to figure for that... .
I would highly recomend running the motor at 1/2 speed and using a larger pulley alot quieter that way.
For that when getting a pulley.

For a jointer.
Indicate more than simply a pulley diameter change
problem--the additional torque of a minor speed limit of motor and circuit or the change was a very significant
percentage change.
