When I updated from 1.6 to 1.7 Joomla changed the favicon back to the joomla logo and a banner I had in the header back to the one that came with the template....
The favicon I just dropped in via ftp and worked fine until this upgrade.

With Ja Purity template now on Joomla 1.7
I changed the favicon.ico image to my favicon image in ja_purity_ii/ folder and that did not have any affect on the favicon display.

I uploaded a favicon.ico file into my specific template folder, I have also copied it to the general templates folder and an icon folder within my template folder, but I am still not able to get the generic Joomla favicon replaced with my favicon...

This should solve your problem without going through codes..
And replace all defalut favicon files with your favicon.
Search for ico files.
Download your server files to computer.

2.5 does not show the browser favicons any more... In Firefox tabs there used to be Joomla favicons. But not any more. Missing in front-end and back-end.

Hi guys, finally managed to get my favicon working but its weirds because it looks perfect in google chrome, looks average in firefox and in internet explorer it doesnt work at all :S Anyone else experience this?
If anyone can help me fix the favicon ...

Try to refresh page...
Do u meansome time IE take time to show favicon..
And see if IE picks it up.
A copy of the favicon in the Joomla root directory of course.

Hi
I have started using Joomla 2.5, however I cant seem to change the favicon from the standard Joomla logo to my own even though in the template folder I replaced it with my favicon. I have even tried an extension to do this but it appears to only work...

Im used to overwriting tmpl file of joomla core and changing "ico" to "png" or "gif" or whatever.
and getting joomla to recognize .png favicon that way as opposed to the standard and lame "ico"
Is there a newer way now that Joomla 1.7.0 is out?

How do I replace the Joomla favicon in the Beez 20 template in Joomla 2.5? I have tried doing a straight replace of the file favicon.ico in the template but that doesn't seem to work. I have also looked at the various documentation and cleared the caches...

I have copied the file to the root and it does not show up. I read where I could add the code to the overall_header.html for the style I am using, but the style I am using does not have a template folder nor a subsequent overall_header.html file.

I've tried uploading using Media Manager, in the root_the_site_favicon
Reread the link carefully....
If you want to put it in the templates folder, you'll need to FTP it in, not use the Joomla admin_favicon Thanks for the reply Rand486.

What I mean is that small joomla logo were this is anything to do with the Joomla template as it appears on the Chrome browser on a PC that has no Joomla where you can change the icon&....
Either remove the original one or rename it.
