Joomla, by default provides a couple of templates to start beginner book.
So to create your own templates you need a good grasp on HTML and CSS.
A Joomla template is nothing but HTML layout stylised using CSS.

Avoid creating too much php code in WYSIWYG editors, you're mixing content with programming logic, defeating... .
I do believe you should write a module, implement your require_once inside it and insert the created module in articles .
Try using Direct PHP.

All files are correct on the server.
Joomla XTC Jumpstart is easy to install, just follow the directions that come with your template is not the case ..
