The built-in defragment tool of Windows is not the best one. I heard that there are a ton of better ones out there - but which one is really good?

I use Magical Defrag , It is pay software at about $20 it to a directory and it will defrag....
But it's portable and appears to work.

Someone told me that it is not always a good idea to defragment a minimally fragmented drive (<2%); and that it could cause performance issues.
Are they right, and why/why not?

Also, be sure say, is just mostly useless to do so.

Our [Windows] workstations mostly just run MS Office and our CRM and ERP clients. All real data is stored on the servers. Is there any point to defragging these machines? If so, how often?

It seems to me that since RAID volumes are logical (as opposed to physical), the layout that the OS believes they have might not correspond to the actual phsyical layout.
So does defrag make sense for RAID?

Servers? Not worth....
RAID5 with a single drive.
RAID0 is just splitting fragmented files up on two drives.
RAID1 is just a mirror of the fragmentation on both drives.
Unless you're running SAN solutions like NetApp with their WAFL layout) .
