Pedernales Falls State Park, kayak fishing?
I thought the trip from the bridge in the park to the first bridge in Junction was great. A few hours if you just paddle, 6-8 hours if you stop and fish along the way.

What turned you on to kayak fishing?
My dad started making kayaks and canoes in the mid 90's. It was only a matter of time before we started fishing out of them. They were SINK's, so fishing out of them was a little difficult but worth it at the time. Now those have become are cruisin kayaks while we fish out of Perception Bimini's.

MAKO fishing from a kayak?
Don't forget, but a large Mako was caught off of Padre Island Beach. Correct me if I'm wrong, but looks like the Mako's will have a kayak catching tournement with these futre Darwin award winners.

What kind of custom rod for Kayak fishing?
Its probably not enough rod for a shark that size, nor enough of a line. As for the big red, it depends on what you call big. For one up to about 10-15 lbs, you may be able to handle it if you cqn keep it away from oyster reefs. The bull reds are more likely to be found in the surf or beyond the breaker waves. There, you need a heavier of a rod, both to handle the fish and because of the weight you will be casting. Others can tell you more, its been a long time since I fished the surf and things have changed. But, if gasoline keeps dropping, I'll be making some visits.

Who got you into kayak fishing?
I saw someone at the fishing show doing a seminar while standing in a kayak in February 2005, I believe it was Kingwood Kayaker, if I remember correctly. I started doing research, found TKF, and the rest is history.
