I am a 5'2" , 107#er who wants to get into sailing here at midlife, 53, with no previous sailing experience, not all that comfy in the water, live on the Gulf side of Florida. I need stability and some sense of speed/safe enough thrills! lol
Any suggestions...

Hi,
I used to have a small sloop I loved to death, but have since parted ways with. Since then I have been crewing on other peoples boats and kayaking. I'm just not ready to keep a "real" boat right now, from a financial or time perspective, but the idea...

I have a small 16ft day sailer. I usually vacation on lake superior park on the canadian side and kayak a lot there. Kayaking on the lake can get quite scary as it happened to me once ive got caught in good 10ft swells which made it quite fun trying to...

It can produce waves of ocean-going size small, but there are some nice semi-protected areas... .
Superior can be a challenging place to sail.
You can have a ball, daysailing at the charts.
I’d treat a 16' daysailor much as you would a kayak.

I took the DP down the Aylesbury Canal and made some films.
The first is just a bit of sailing.
The second is showing the places where the boat failed - the mast step was not strong enough and one of my fillets on a half frame parted company - neither...

Drysuit for canoe sailing? I've pretty well made up my mind to buy an Peak UK Adventurer suit ; it has a hood, vent-able neck seal and a light zip system on the inside seam of the legs which seems like a good idea. The only thing is it has a double tube...

It seems as though you can pick up several sailing magazines printed in the same month and the content is pretty much the same.
What is worse the same stories and ideas seem to be re used every year, ie winter lay up, re commissioning etc.
You cannot ...

Hi all,
I use a “sit-inside” kayak rather than a Hobie sit-on-top. Hope that doesn’t disqualify me from getting help and participating on these forums. A sit-inside boat just better suits the touring I do here in the Pacific Northwest. I do kayak sail...

You may be better off with the sail kit from the inflatables.
The mount is made of a 2' long by 1/2" diameter PVC and it fits with a little wiggle room an OD of 17.2mm .
Into the sail mount.
