I read posts which described 357 sig as a hyped 9mm and it's capability to penetrate bulletproof vest is highly exaggerated. But looking at velocity charts and tests done by individuals,

I doubt it has any potential to penetrate a vest that is rated to stop pistol rounds and isn't worn to stop projectiles that deliver a given amount of force to a given cross-section of vest safely.

About 2 years ago i bought an old test panel from Bulletproofme. These are cheap one panels with no carrier that are way past there warranty and have been used. So exposure to UV, sweat etc.

This is a research gambit, not a total statement of fact .
Someone previously reported here that unspun kevlar thread was used for kites, except it cut itself.
El_video_title I do believe PowerPro is spun kevlar.

My kevlar paddle is starting to creak as I lean into it. Does this mean there is a crack somewhere? I can't see anything yet. I thought kevlar was nearly indestructible?

Kevlar fibers can stop bullets in vests because it flexes (a carbon vest would shatter), so it may flex too much for the epoxy resin holding the fibers.
Shaft is delaminating.
