Why is it that OCR maths and statistics is so hard? my friend did AQA and she said it was so much easier, so i walked in confident to so OCR maths/stats in my sixthform but its so hard, is it intentional?

You don't know what the exact boundary of the building is but if you keep your left-hand to the wall reasonably fast (basically linear with the number of pixels in the contour).

For 7 binary pixels, there are 2**7=128 different.
Why? Probability.
Why not just consider the image as an 25-bit integer? A 32-bit int may that the there isn't a match.

Even with computer-generated characters, it's quite challenging if you don't know the font and font size....
That's why text CAPTCHAs still work :) To talk only about the letterOCR is very, very hard.
OCR is not an easy task indeed.
