Using ext/ldap I'm trying to add entries to an Active Directory. As long as I only use one single structural objectClass everything works as expected, but as soon as I try to add an entry with a second auxiliary objectClass, the server reports an error...

If you can't, fix the permissions first (check the Properties tab in the Advanced view of Security settings... .
See whether you can attach the auxiliary class after creation, through ADSI Edit .
You may not have permission to set the objectClass attribute .

However, this is only set after login, so you'll still get an error that login can't find the users home directory....
Warning: Ugly hack ahead! The best thing will of course be to change the data in the LDAP server to the right directory.

It will act like AD against.
You could of Mac guys in your network you could use Apple Open Directory.
You could setup an external trust between the Windows domain and the other LDAP database.

ADAM can be installed on XP and 2003 (although I haven't tried it on windows 7 or vista I suspect... .
The technology you are looking for is AD LDS (in 2008 speak) or ADAM (in 2003 speak) There are differences but you can only deploy AD LDS on a 2k8 system .

I'm having a problem finding documentation....
When an appropriate certificate is found during startup it will begin to listen for LDAPS but the non-secure LDAP behavior remains intact.
Active Directory will continue to listen on port 389.
Is there some web front-end to administer LDAP servers, in a similar way as you can use phpMySQLAdmin to administer DBs?

What kind of LDAP are you trying to manage.
It comes in free and paid-for versions, although I've only ever needed the free one .
It's not a web front-end, but I like Softerra's LDAP browser .
