I was told to start taking cholesterol meds and refused until trying to lower LDL with diet.

I saw a dietician and she said I need to limit saturated fat to 11g per day and calories to 1500 so I lose a few pounds.

My husband's lab info came back today. His LDL is 17, HDL is 38, TRI189 and A1C is 6.4. I don't know what to make of the LDL of 17 as I can't quite believe it. I DO HAVE the printed copy from the doctor's office. Anyone else seen an LDL of 17?? 3 replies...

Thanks, The thought that it might have been a mistake crossed my mind and I went to a health fair over the weekend. It was a different lab, but the results were essentially identical (167 Total, 111 LDL, 40 HDL and 81 tri). Got called into doctor's office...

How long does it take to lower LDL cholesterol levels? I have just been prescribed Lipitor and my TCL is 250. Taking 10 mg per day how long would it normally take to bring it down to the 200 level? Also once I'm on Lipitor do I have to continue to take...
