How would I take an image from a .NET picturebox (System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox) and put it into a 2D Picture control or IMAQ image?
Can it be done without saving the image (System.Drawing.Image: Save) and re-loading it with Read PNG File.vi or IMAQ...

It's also true that LabVIEW is primarily used in academia and in testing primarily in test engineering, and I've used VB, C, C++, LabVIEW, and C#.

I am using a copy of LabVIEW Education Edition, but when I loaded LabVIEW Help, I noticed that it did not have any files for the NXT. I assume that these are available from NI for download, but the Help files don't make it clear how to do that. Solution...

Open the LabVIEW Help section, in all its glory, with its hundreds of pages of instructions (I would guess) on how to do every conceivable LabVIEW function EXCEPT run a Mindstorms NXT robot.

There are a pair of WindRiver discs as well for teams using C++ .
That's what you use in order to install LabVIEW.
It's in the LabVIEW envelope that looks like it might contain a CD-ROM.
There's another flash drive in the Kit of Parts.
