I'm thinking about trying to learn French properly. Be great to be able to speak and understand another language fluently and I'm also thinking it can automatically bump up your salary for a lot of positions and open other opporunities.

Not fluently, but I've taken 3 and a half years of French so far and I'm going to France or something, because nobody can go to a place where the main language is Latin(that I know of).

Basic French killington Like a true Englishman, I'm shamefully narrow in my language expertise.

Being fluent does not mean speaking quickly. It is better to speak slowly and clearly than quickly and incoherently.
Try to speak as much as possible without getting worried about the mistakes you make.Remember that no one is perfect!
