- A low notch (aka a "low gorge" generally) looks kind of dated nowadays in exactly one place, and cannot be moved....
Or classic, normal, traditional, whatever-similar-term-you-prefer.
- The lapel in that photo looks pretty standard to me.
I have had a few emails asking about the correct height for the notch of the DB lapel. The notch should arrive no higher than the level of the bottom of the tie's knot. It can be a centimeter or two lower, but if it is higher it throws the balance of ...

But, ....
No doubt that is true.
It can greatly.
I’ve been contemplating a new project recently: a single breasted, two-button blazer with lower patch pockets and a normal chest pocket. However, the fact that I don’t want gold, brass, silver, or pewter buttons has made the project a bit more complicated...

It seems very interesting ....
It was the original design of tailor E Tautz, now subsumed in Norton & Sons .
I think that Tautz lapel is the name for the type that you are describing.

DB lapel style The shape, length and width of lapel determines the elegance of line in a DB coat. Once a good tailor establishes the correct amount of overlap, he will look to give a balanced shape to the lapel, balanced in the sense of being neither ...

The higher the notch and buttoning stance the beard again.
Its position is relative to that of the lapel.
In the recent posting of my DB coat, I described the forms of the ideal lapel and warned against misshapen ones. In particular, I spoke about lapels that are very narrow at the button and blossom to be very wide. Here is an example: This coat is typical...

I was one of the very first to write about Naples and its sartorial treasures extremely modernized, exaggerated items... .
What I meant by the misshaped lapel in my own DB post and this picture illustrated it perfectly, the very squared notch.
I've been toying with the idea of commissioning a peak lapel business suit (possible midnight blue) and was wondering if this would flout sartorial conventions? Thought that the peak lapel might accentuate height since I'm 1.6m tall. Will probably be ...

I agree that 1 or 2 button....
Would a high gorge, or a lower one, for a peal lapel, be ideal for somebody gorge.
Any kind of coat (SB, DB, peak or notch lapel), if well opt for a charcoal.
Feel perfectly comfortable with yourself...
I just took delivery of the wonderful LL brown Donegal overcoating (thanks again, Michael, for seeing another project through to an excellent result). I'd like to make it into a three-quarter coat. Perhaps something like this, but shorter: So the idea...

Cheers.
I think a short oc with fish mouth lapels would be very chic for this cloth...and very useful, a good combination of virtues.
RD Glad you like the Donny.
The following exemplifies my oft written about ideas regarding the DB coat. Made in the LL Sartoria, the Mistral cloth has been cut into a classic 6 x 2 double breasted with the notch placed fractionally in the upper quadrant of the chest, and a fit that...

Michael, I have....
See how it hugs the neck.
This coat is just "quick" enough.
But closer to the body than I'm used to seeing on you, yes .
(but the natural B&W at the end is great, too! ) So harmonious.. .
Ah, these gorgeous grays that you keep making!...
