Hi, I have the usual problem of a dead dV 1000, happening after plugging in power when hibernating. There is no evidence of burned chips on the motherboard. The charger shuts down since it is seeing a short circuit on the motherboard. I suspect the regulator...

I have then reassembled the laptop to the faulty capacitor.
On a short extension with a cermaic capacitor of 50V 0.047uF .

I have a couple of Dell Inspiron 6000 notebooks that work perfectly fine unless you pick them up by one corner (as most people would). When you lift the notebook it flexes slightly and the notebook shorts out. Sometimes even a gentle bump will cause this...

Possibly a Ball Grid Array (BGA) chip which are effectively impossible
to rework.
