Try to listen to the qualities of the chord you are playing, and after a bit of time, you will be able to hear maj7 chords, dom7 chords....
It will really help you if you learn to identify chords with your ears...

A minor chord as modern chord....
In that context, the minsus2 designation makes perfect sense.
Say the chord is major or minor - but you can imply it, especially if those two chords are followed major and minor chords.
