I swim entirely too fast and have no endurance. Being that I have been cleared to swim freestyle, I need to do so. But I want to be able to go for longer than 5 minutes.
Anyone know of any good resources for learning how to slow down (and not sink)?

Was it worth it? Is it just as good to take baby in the pool and play on our own? DD is about to be 10 months old and DH thinks that swim class is a waste of money since they're not really learning how to swim at this point. If it's just to get them used...

My partner and I have been dabbling in local "mini" triathlons and are really enjoying them.
The only problem is he can not swim - as in - he has never learnt to swim.
Because we live in a country area the choice of swim...

My daughter has been told that it is and her teacher wants 50e for her to take part. We would prefer that she not have to take part in this for a variety of reasons which...

Learning to swim is explicitly mentioned in the PE Curriculum, under the Aquatics strand able to swim lengths, the school classes were usually a fiasco and waste of money due to swim.

DH takes DD swimming every week and she loves it. We never did water babies etc and we don't really care if she learns to 'swim' or not at the moment as long as she loves the water. However DH was saying he is thinking about taking her armbands off......

Riley will be 3 in April and I was considering putting him in swimming lessons. Is this too young?
I don't expect him to know how to swim 100% when he is done but just how to get his head above water if he falls in.

Assuming the classes near you are the standard Red Cross learn-to-swim series that is used.

Inspired by our latest convert to the SBR Challenge
Shouldn't you do 1.5km straight swims with the wetsuit on, not tumble turn and not kick off the wall to keep it relevant?!
Seriously though, worth a discussion IMO...
Is kicking off the wall cheating...

If Elite swimmers/triathletes are breathing every 2, why is it necessary to learn if the swell isn't favourable.....
It's just showing off.
Is there any point in learning to tumble turn? No.
Greater knowledge on this and just do as he says .

When you swim, do you do that efficient underwater turn or just touch the wall and spin as if you are standing?
I don't know if this is akin to leg-shaving among cyclists or not.

Steve to get dropped in, and it is great....
He'll be cruising, they are very hardy, active swimmers, and when they spaw or practicing they do a synchronized swim.
When you don't feed him, he'll be pouty and swim in the back.
If he sees food.
