As for cleaning my lenses, I usually have a couple lens cloths stuck somewhere in my camera....
You can wipe the coatings 450D | 500D Gripped
18-55IS from a fall...but that's it .
And the less you clean your lens the better.

Visible, then clean the lens manually with a cotton bud/qtip dipped in window cleaner.

Ok... so i had a spare green laser that i decided i would use for a lens cleaning experiment, so here goes:
1. (NEW/CLEAN) Womans Makeup brush <-Perfect
2. Microfibre cloth <- NO GOOD! You will only make the problem worse!
3. Canned Compressed air...

That's not going to work though unless you have the lens clean beforehand, seems to me like just a good form.

I was curious to know if the lenspen is a good product to use for cleaning a lenses, or if there were any other good cleaning products i should know about for cleaning lenses and sensors.

Always make sure you have.
Cleaning sensors are sensative to some of the chemicals used by sensor cleaning kits.
I've used a lenspen before to clean a couple spots off the front element of lenses.

And my projector has an automatic lens cover.
They are low cost It's amazing how much dust accumulates so quickly on the lens.
Or just look at it and buy the pieces yourself .
Get a camera lens cleaning kit...

I have an ED refractor that has dust and dew spots on the outside lens face. I want to clean this face but not sure if I might damage it. Does this face have any coatings on it or is it sensitive to cleaning? What is the best way to do it?

Don't be tempted to take a short cut on this - an objective lens is very expensive to replace, if it could be replaced affect the viewing? if not i wouldnt....
The lens has come up very well.
The fluid onto the cloth rather than the lens.
