Background to question: We are building an online web application that requires the user to sign in. We will add the ability to "keep me signed in on this computer for x weeks."

What is the normal standard for how long you should allow a user...

If you do that, a non authorized user that gets access to your account, can then stay signed forever, no matter out, or if you let the browser sit on....

We are two adults and two kids under 6. We can easily manage in a cabin without the extra pull down bed. Will they let us stay in one of those? Last time on Carnival no one wanted that upper thing anyways, kids were scared so high up.
