I'm running Adobe AIR 1.5.2 (latest) on Windows 7 (64-bit RTM) and downloaded TweetDeck 0.31.1 (latest). When I run TweetDeck I get the following errors:
Ooops, TweetDeck can't find your data
and
Sorry, Adobe AIR has a problem running on this computer...

Could you check your environment variables like APPDATA or USERPROFILE to see if they are well-formed? APPDATA should be like D:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming and USERPROFILE should be like.

Is there any way in Windows XP, Vista or 7, where you can set a domain user as a restricted user, but then allow to install certain approved applications? For example, allow them to download and install updates to TweetDeck themselves?

The only problem i see.
Only add certain file paths like C:\Program files\tweetdeck and all other locations tweetdeck needs to update for its install.
Try setting up software restriction policies.

There is a lot of interest and hype on Adobe Air lately. Is it deserving of this and are there any worthy competitors to Adobe in this space? The only Adobe Air application I have used is TweetDeck .. while I am not loving it, that may be a more a UI ...

You can run anywhere, and do fairly serious work, as long as you people like small fonts.)
Most of the developers that I know who have used Flex / Air think like containers that rival Python....
And it feels a bit like Java to me...

I'm running Ubntu 9.04, and had adobe flash and air running fine (which meant I had my beloved tweetdeck). Then I ran the system janitor, and tweetdeck went away. Since then, I've been unable to get flash running again. It looks like I've installed it...

Have you tried first uninstalling and then reinstalling?

Have you ensured ubuntu-restricted-extras is installed? This should properly install flash across the system (including the Firefox plugin) .
