The biggest reason I can think of for it not working is if you're using code that was deprecated in 2.5, and... .
The Spring guys are very careful to retain backwards compatibility .
If you're lucky, then nothing will need changing, it should all just work .

This way you just need be seeing perfect 16x speedup, more likely you'll see 8x to 12x speedup depending on how optimized your server may be enough, but likely....
It uses current day GPU's to increase calculations like these 10-100 fold.

You can't do a direct upgrade from Gutsy to Karmic.

You're better off starting from scratch and seeing what still works .
But I can guarantee you the transition will likely not be easy that I can't imagine there is any automated way to upgrade.
Exactly how screwed you are.
I've read in quite a few places the 1.8 is far more likely to suffer hgf than the 1.1 1.4 and 1.6 are, is this true? and if so why? surely the longer stroke shouldn't affect the HG?
